Domestic Violence & Intimate Partner Violence Recovery in Trinity, Florida
This page is written for two different people: someone who has left an unsafe relationship, and someone who is still in one and isn't ready to talk about leaving. Both are welcome here, and neither will be told what to do.
If you are currently in an unsafe relationship
Deciding what to do about an abusive relationship is not a single decision made once. It involves housing, money, children, immigration status, and safety — and there is no single right answer that applies to everyone. This practice will not tell you to leave. What it offers is a confidential space to think, at your own pace, with someone trained specifically in this work.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-799-7233, or by texting START to 88788. Advocates there can talk through options, including safety planning, without requiring you to make any decision on the call.
A note on device safety: if you're concerned that a phone or computer is being monitored, consider using a device the other person cannot access. Many hotline websites include a quick-exit feature for this reason.
If you have already left
Leaving doesn't end the work — it often starts it. Trust in your own judgment, the ability to relax around someone safe, sorting a genuine threat from an old alarm: this is where individual therapy usually focuses once the immediate danger has passed.
What this practice is trained in specifically
Support for intimate partner violence that doesn't look like a single dramatic event — control, monitoring, being told your memory of events is wrong — as well as recovery after physical harm. Individual sessions only, at whatever pace feels survivable.
